    In March 2024, the Secretary-General of the United Nations visited Brussels for a series of meetings with Heads of State, Government, representatives of the European Union (EU) and Belgian ministers. This visit was in the context of the European Council summit on 21 and 22 March. On March 20, he was received at the Egmont Palace by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hadja Lahbib, and the Minister of Development Cooperation and of Major Cities Policy, Caroline Gennez.

    Belgium will assume the presidency of the Council of the European Union from January 1 to June 30, 2024. The main objective is to strengthen cooperation between the Member States and make progress on various topics. During this presidency, important summits and conferences will be held, where crucial decisions will be taken on the future of the European Union. The prestigious Egmont Palace will serve as the location for many of these important meetings.

    On April 16, 17 and 18, 2024, the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg paid an important state visit to Belgium. The visit highlights both countries' continued commitment to invest and cooperate in areas such as sustainable economic development, e-health, space, defense and education. On Wednesday morning, April 17, the King and the Grand Duke opened the Economic Forum at the Egmont Palace in Brussels, where they met Belgian and Luxembourgish CEOs to discuss successful collaborations and ongoing projects.
